Indirect: He said that he was reading a book.


Direct:  She said,” I will call you tomorrow.”

Indirect: She said that she would call me the next day.


Direct:  They  said,” We enjoyed the party.”

Indirect: They said that they had enjoyed the party.


Direct:  Ravi  said,” I am not feeling well today.”

Indirect: Ravi said he was not feeling well that day.


Direct :  Surekha   said,” I have completed my homework.”

Indirect: Surekha said she had completed her homework.


Direct:  He said,” Do you play football?”

Indirect: He asked if  I played football.


Direct:  She said,” Did you complete your homework?”

Indirect: She asked if  I had completed my homework.


Direct:  She said,” Have you ever been to London?”

Indirect: She asked if  I had ever been to London.


Direct:  She said to me,” Are you writing a story?”

Indirect: She asked me if  I was writing a story.


Direct :  They said  ,” Is your mother also  going with you?”

Indirect: They asked if my mother was also going with me.


Direct:  He said,” What are you doing?”

Indirect: He asked what I was doing.


Direct:  she said,” Where do you live?”

Indirect: She asked where I lived.


Direct:  He said,” Why is she crying?”

Indirect: He asked why she was crying.


Direct:  He said,” Whom does she want to contact?”

Indirect: He asked whom she wanted to contact.


Direct :  They said  ,” Whose house are you purchasing?”

Indirect: They asked whose house I was purchasing.
