Life Processes Activity Solution


This activity is based on the NIOS Class 10 science and technology (212) Chapter 22- Life Processes Module 5- The Living World.


Aim


To prepare a list of food items consumed in the last seven days and identify the nutrients present in them.


Materials Required


   1. Notebook

   2. Pen

   3. List of food items


Procedure


   1. We make a list of food items consumed during the last seven days for lunch and dinner.


    2. Write the nutrients present in the items, such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.


   3. Make a table of food items with relevant nutrients.


    4. Discuss the diet with family or friends.

Observation


We observe that

    1. Carbohydrates are present in rice, chapati and bread.


    2.  Proteins are present in dal, milk, eggs, fish and paneer.


    3. Fats are present in milk and oils.


   4. Vitamins and minerals are present in fruits and vegetables.


Explanation


 A balanced diet contains all essential nutrients in adequate quantities. These nutrients provide energy, help in growth, and protect from diseases.


Conclusion


We can conclude that the diet consumed during the last seven days was balanced. We can also improve the diet by including more fruits, vegetables and milk products.
