In this activity, we will collect pictures of organs containing muscular, connective, epithelial, and nervous tissues.
Building Blocks of Life- Cell and Tissues Activity Solution
This activity is based on the NIOS Class 10 Science and Technology (212) Chapter 21: Building Blocks of Life - Cell and Tissues, Module 5: The Living World.
Aim
To identify the human body as containing different types of
tissues.
Materials Required
1. Science
textbook
2. Pictures
3. Notebook and pencil
Procedure
1. Collect
pictures or draw diagrams of different human organs.
2. Observe
the tissues present in each organ.
3. Write
the name of the organ under each tissue category.
Observation
We observe that
(a) Organs containing muscular tissue
i. Heart
ii. Arms and legs
iii. Stomach and intestine
(b) Organs containing Connective tissue
i. Bones
ii. Cartilage (nose, ear)
iii. Blood
iv. Tendons and ligaments
(c) Organs containing Epithelial tissue
i. Skin
ii. Inner lining of mouth
iii. Inner lining of the stomach and in the intestine
iv. Blood vessels
(d) Organs containing Nervous tissue
i. Brain
ii. Spinal cord
iii. Nerves
Conclusion
We can conclude that human body organs are made up of
specialised tissue. Connective tissue provides support; epithelial tissue protects the body surface, and nervous tissues control and coordinate body activities.
